Hammocks [Feb. 25th, 2007|02:25 pm]
Costa Rica

Hello, I just joined, I don't know how active this community still is, but I'll give it a shot. I am going to Costa Rica with my Girl Scout troop in June for two weeks. We've already set our itinerary (we're going with Rustic Pathways) but do you guys suggest buying the Costa Rican hammocks, I'd love to bring a small to medium sized one home for my room. What other things do you recommend us buying besides coffee?

Also are there places on line to look at hammocks?

Thanks in advance

thanks for responding!

Do you know how much USD should we bring? We're probably going to change it there.

most places accept both USD and colones, even some of the local artisans and shops. so you'll be fine. and the amount you bring is wholly up to you, keep in mind that Costa Rica isn't as cheap as you may have heard, its a pretty hardcore tourist destination. It's much different than say Belize or Mexico in regards to cheap merchandise. This isn't to say that everything is expensive or priced the same as in the U.S., you just have to keep an eye out for really great deals. as of the end of january it was approximately 500 colones to the dollar, so when you are making estimations and conversions, there you go.

have fun.
