Christmas Vacation in Costa Rica

I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica for a week over Christmas. I was there in 2002 and stayed at Delfin Amor Eco Lodge. It was great, but a little too rustic for my husband. We like "eco-tourism" but also electricty, hot water, etc. I like hotels where the guests hang out and talk after a day of activities. My main interests are seeing wildlife, snorkeling, and dozing on the beach. I am looking at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. Any other ideas? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks!

whereabouts are you going to be? down on the SW side of the Osa Peninsula, be went to Bosque Del Cabo which was absolutely amazing BUT I think it was probably WAY expensive (my parents paid, fortunately). but it was awesome wildlife, and hot water, and electricity, and evening dinners are really good, eaten buffet-style with the rest of the people. I'd highly recomment it. only thing is, like I said, the cost. :-/
have fun!!!!

That place looks about perfect. Thanks so much! We've stayed at places with cold showers before and that is a little harsh... but I asked them about availability. At this point we can go anywhere and the price is not bad for us.

ok the only thing is, I was talking to my parents about it and the thing is, you also have to pay for a charter flight down there. :-/ or else drive there and as I'm sure you know, Costa Rica roads are quite dreadful. cuz it's quite far south. but if price isn't a big deal then maybe you could do it!
dude. this place was amazing. when our jeep that the guy picked us up in pulled in, they came out to meet us with these drinks with little umbrellas in them. the grounds are lovely, and there are nice trails. in the afternoon the Scarlet Macaws would make a racket in the trees high above our cabin. our cabin overlooked the ocean and we could see the White-collared Swifts flying around and I also saw Squirrel Monkeys from our cabin porch too. I hope you can go!
I adore Costa Rica and definitely want to go back.

oh I just looked at the F.A.Q.s and it says there is no hot water! But I didn't remember that, to be honest (obviously). sorry about that!! but it's so warm and humid in the afternoon that I didn't mind a cold shower and if I remember right it wasn't COLD it was just lukewarm. :-/ I'm sorry for misleading you! I really think it'd be fine though, I think you'd love it.

Thanks! I have been somewhere close by. We stayed at Delphin Amor when they still took individual reservations back in 2002. It's in

So I knew about the plane hop over. And the cold showers. I sent in a reservation request and I am going to keep looking too.

Thanks!

You should perhaps look into a beach-front hotel near Liberia on the pacific side. It is less expensive and has the most amazing beaches. It's a wonderful place to visit, much different from the city; people are more patient, friendly, the cost of things are much less (food, drink, souveniers), and you have all the options for beach as well as rainforest excursions. Buena suerte y pura vida.......
